PROGRAM COORDINATOR, NUTRITION

Currently, the International Food Information Council (IFIC) is seeking an entry level candidate to work on nutrition communications. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy team player, able to handle diverse facets of multiple programs and projects. Good organization and communication skills including writing, proofreading, and public speaking, are also a plus.

Responsibilities include the following consistent with IFIC's Mission*:

PROGRAMMATIC

Coordinate the preparation and distribution of information in support of nutrition activities: 

  • Compile, analyze, and distribute weekly and quarterly reports of significant issue-related news stories. Provide verbal updates on reports as requested.
  • Contribute to and assist in the development of IFIC written materials and other communications projects.
  • Respond to external and internal requests with direction and guidance from supervisors.

Coordinate opinion leader outreach activities:

  • Maintain and update list of key audiences.
  • Maintain updated calendar to reflect all opinion leader outreach opportunities, meetings, events, etc.
  • Assist with PowerPoint presentation development, and coordinate materials to be shipped to meeting locations in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the coordination of IFIC Foundation exhibits.
  • Attend relevant external meetings and develop summary reports as requested.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Provide program coordination to support nutrition projects. These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Be present during all office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch period, exceptions considered by request.
  • Be familiar with IFIC structure, all programs and activities in order to handle requests, telephone calls, prepare expense accounts, maintain and update contact database, and other coordinating duties, appropriately.
  • Be willing to learn and assume additional responsibilities.
  • Manage all aspects of internal meetings to include distributing meeting announcements and reminders and tracking responses, preparing and duplicating meeting books, ordering meals, setting-up meeting room, post-meeting clean-up of room, and mailing requested documents to attendees prior to and following the meeting.
  • Other duties as assigned. This position may require some travel.

Relevant Qualifications:

  • Position located in Washington, DC
  • B.S or B.A. in nutrition, journalism, food science or other relevant field.
  • Registered Dietitian or RD-eligible preferred.

Reporting relationship: This position reports primarily to the Director of Nutrition Communications with additional direction coming from the Senior Director, Nutrition Communications and Program Manager, Nutrition.
