It is not easy being an overweight child, not to mention the parent or caretaker of one. Those who care for an overweight child most likely have many concerns and questions, such as: How do you determine if your child may have a weight problem? What causes a child to become overweight? Where can you go for help? A new brochure, Helping Your Overweight Child, addresses these questions and more in an easy-to-understand booklet. The brochure includes tips on how to be supportive, increase your family's physical activity levels and teach your family healthy eating habits. Additional resources are listed in the back for more information on the subject. The brochure was developed by the Weight-Control Information Network, a service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and co-sponsored by the International Food Information Council Foundation.
