The month of May not only brings spring flowers and major league baseball, but also brings Women’s Health Month. The IFIC Foundation has developed many available resources that discuss women-specific nutrition and food safety issues.

One of the resources that women of any age may find helpful is Weight Loss: Finding a Program that Works for You. With the increasing rate of obesity in today’s society, women are encouraged more than ever to maintain a healthy body weight through a healthful diet and exercise program. Deciding which program will work best can be difficult, but, with the help of this easy-to-use booklet, the chance for success can be improved.

Also, the IFIC Review: Physical Activity, Nutrition and Bone Health is an excellent resource for those who are concerned about bone health, especially as they age. The Review discusses everything from what minerals are present in bones, to how exercising can help keep bones healthy.

And finally, the new IFIC Foundation Functional Foods Fact Sheet: Soy is a great resource that discusses all the health benefits of incorporating soy into your diet. One of the benefits of eating soy is a possible reduction in low density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol levels, thereby lowering the chance of developing cardiovascular disease, a leading cause of death for women.
