New International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation research suggests women are more likely than men to be taking advantage of and eating foods to maintain overall health and wellness, as well as for more specific benefits like improved feelings of fullness and digestive health. The new insight comes from further study of this year's 3rd annual IFIC Foundation Food & Health Survey, which examines what consumers are thinking and doing about their food, nutrition and health. The results of this research were revealed in a Web cast featuring a dynamic duo of nutrition experts. They provided their unique perspectives on how men's and women's nutritional attitudes and actions differ and dietary advice for both sexes during various stages of life.
Dr. Chris Mohr, who has written hundreds of articles on men's nutrition and fitness, presented advice for men, saying, “Men can get the most out of their diet by following simple nutrition strategies that can be used anywhere and anytime to improve physical and mental performance and improve health.”
For the women, Dr. Jenna Bell-Wilson, a nationally recognized dietitian and nutrition writer, discussed the changes in dietary needs as they age, “Women should be focusing on eating and living healthfully, while giving special care to the unique demands of each stage of life—from teen to twilight.”
